13.1-Mile Long Course (WITHOUT A BURRO)
Running With the Burros – Long gives you the chance to participate in our historic race and experience firsthand what it’s like to run alongside a pack burro racing team. You must remain on course and must not interfere with any burro teams. Burro teams always have the right-of-way. Participants will receive a finisher’s gift and a meal starting around 12:45 PM.
Awards:
1st Place: Trophy
2nd Place: Trophy
3rd Place: Trophy
7.3-Mile Short Course (WITH A BURRO)

Awards:
1st Place: Trophy
2nd Place: Trophy
3rd Place: Trophy
7.3-Mile Short Course (WITHOUT A BURRO)
Running With the Burros – Short allows you to experience the fun of our historic race while getting a close look at what it’s like to run with a pack burro racing team. As with the long course, you must stay on course and avoid interfering with burro teams. Burro teams always have the right-of-way. Participants will receive a finisher’s gift and a meal starting around 12:45 PM.
Awards:
1st Place: Trophy
2nd Place: Trophy
3rd Place: Trophy
SPECIAL NOTE
All participants will reach a decision point at Water Station #2 (CR371 and CR375). If you originally chose the long course but aren’t having your best day, you're welcome to continue straight on CR371 and complete the 7.3-mile short course instead. You will NOT be disqualified.
Water Stations #1 and #2 will issue slap wristbands, which help us verify the furthest checkpoint reached on your chosen course. This ensures you receive proper recognition for completing either the Long or Short route.
Donations:
In addition to your entry fee, BVPBR encourages you to donate to help cover the cost of these races. So, we are asking our racers to help all they can. Our expenses to put on a race like this is expensive. BVPBR is paying for everything: Camping, Portable bathrooms, chip timing, Town and County, and BLM Fees. Your continued contribution will be greatly appreciated. You can or when you register! This year donations will be distributed between the Chaffee County Search and Rescue North, and the Buena Vista Pack Burro Race.
